On October 1, 2008, thirty seven Federal Government agencies participated in the First Annual Federal Hispanic Career Advancement Summit (FAFHCAS) in Arlington, VA. The FAFHCAS activity, a first of its kind, aims to address the vacuum of Hispanic leadership in senior executive and management positions. The event provided attendees with a unique opportunity to develop individual leadership competencies in order to maximize their career advancement potential. Participants were provided access to Hispanics in leadership positions, management insight, training workshops and networking opportunities. (See Strategic Plan).
The FAFHCAS activity qualified as federal training in compliance with 5 U.S.C. Chapter 41 (See OPM memorandum). The workshops tracks provided training in the following areas: Building Leadership Skills, Leading Change and Leading People, Getting it Done & Achieving Results; and Executive Coaching. (See Presentations).
There was an extraordinary response to the Summit which far exceeded our most ambitious expectations. More than 600 federal employees from over 20 different States supported this historic event.
The FAFHCAS Summit Steering Committee wants to thank the speakers, workshop presenters, and all the volunteers who made this historic event a resounding success! We could not have done it without their support and assistance!
